This article describes a large drill that is being used to bore a hole underneath the Allegheny River, to be used for the extension to Pittsburgh’s subway.
I’ve heard this machine described as a 500-Ton Boring Machine.
500-Ton Boring Machine? I can’t decide whether this is a great name for a band (“Put your hands together, Buffalo, for 500-Ton Boring Machine!”) or a good insult for that annoying co-worker. (“Don’t go into the break room if Bill’s in there. He’s a 500-Ton Boring Machine.”)
On further thought, I think I’m going to choose the insult. Mainly because I don’t have a band.
